Insomnia moments

The wee hours of the night when the boy is sleeping I get to catch up with my previous life. I sometimes feel I've cutoff myself from... well... myself. There's so much needing to be done around here, but Ben takes up most my time. Dinner has recently become a slap dash effort and we've hit the local Thai house more than once. Ben also falls asleep in between 8 and 9, so we race home to feed, bathe, and put him to bed during the week. Usually, when I get home Ota is feeding him or letting him take a nap. He's pulling himself up now and should be walking anyday. The baby gate is already in the hall, set up, just so I can get a shower in the morning after Ota leaves.

In other news... Saturday is the final Harry Potter book. Shamed, I am admittedly not well versed in Potterisms. I haven't even read a single book! It's one of those things I plan to do some day, when I have time (see the 1st paragraph). Lisa (coworker) and I were working together today on creating special bookmarks for the winners of the book prize drawing. Fifteen lucky contestants will converge on us, slobbering for their final dose. It's slightly sad, really, because it's so wonderful to see the fervor that effected all ages again, but it's for the last time. We may never see another series of books cause quite a phenomenon. My prediction is that J.K. Rowling has not only killed off "he who shall not be named," but also Wizard Potter himself. She was seen animatedly crying in a coffee shop while drafting the final copy.

In other other news... it's my birthday Sunday. I've already redeemed my free coffee from Cable Car Coffee (love them) and free ice cream from Baskin-Robbins. I hope to convince Ota we should go somewhere for breakfast.

In other other other news... I didn't get the promotion I interviewed for on 7/17, but I knew that would happen. The good news is there's another circuit of interviews next week for an even better job advancement. Hope to get that!!!! It's an opening in the branch I already work at, so I would know some things that would be to my advantage. People are being exceptionally nice to me today as well. But, that may be because they know I didn't get the other jobs I've interviewed for recently.

Lastly, just a reminder, I do have other blogs, because I totally into trying new tools and stuff on the internet. I've updated my livejournal.com account a lot more frequently than this one, but this one allows me to email pictures easily. Then I went and tried MySpace... but I think that one is severly overrated. Yahoo does the same stuff, so does Google.

Oh well nighty night... I'm going to go and read some of "Lucky Girls," which I hope to finish by August. It's an anthology of short fiction about (and by) women in the Middle East and South East Asia.
