Here we are barely in the new year and Ota and I find ourselves having to change Ben's whole world. Next week Ota finds out when we relocate to Colorado. A few weeks ago it was simply an 'if', but not now.
Since I just began school in January, I will at least finish out the semester here in Vacaville. But, Spring and Summer will be when I transition to online in Colorado. It will require me to be more regimented and more focused. Focusing on one task at a time is NOT my strong suit. Look at my knitting blog... shmeesh.
Ben has turned a corner this week. He no longer cares that I'm leaving for a few hours or for the day. As long as he's with Daddy or Momma Holly he's fine. A quick kiss and hug and he runs off to play with whatever caught his eye. *sigh* They grow up so fast.
Friday, another big change, my supervisor Nancy was thrown a retirement party. She has been with the library for thirty years. That was amazing to me, since I've barely made six years at any one job. She was truly a wonderful person to know. On the job, she always made you feel like family, no matter what circumstances occurred. She was the work mom for me. I will miss her terribly.
Our new supervisor, Racine, was my coworker for over a year. She was hired on the same time as I was, but she had MUCH more background in running meetings and supervising. She's not Nancy's replacement, but definitely the lady that fits the bill. We get along great. I tell people we have so much in common, but she's the non-fiction version of me. She takes no crap. Also, she has the education, which I admire, because I'm into stuff like book learnin'. :)
What else? Oh, Ken & Marian Hoffman passed during the holidays. They were really neat people, devoted to each other until the very end. I couldn't feel sad or cry over their passing, because they were both in such great spirits regardless of the pain and illness. They had really lived their lives completely. As long as they were together they were happy. They're still together even now, I'd like to think.
Anywho... there are other changes in the works. More later when I know more...
