We joined Jitka and Chris at the North Pole the weekend before last (a fortnight ago). North Pole is an amusement park in Cascade, CO that has Santa themed everything. There was even a little house for kids to meet Santa.
It was great to hang out with them when they're so close now. Just about an hour away in Colorado Springs. Chris's son Ryan was in town for the week and Ben made friends with him. They coincidently had matching jackets, which made them look like twins from the back. By 3pm they were both exhausted, so we left for Jitka and Chris's place.
Chris made a terrific Lasagna. Ben ate up quite a bit. Ota had seconds. It was the perfect meal for a snowy day. By nightfall we started having heavy snow, which lasted most of the morning as well. Chris had to fly to CA, so we were worried enough to follow them to the airport. He had some lay overs getting back, but we hear he made it safely. Good to hear.
In more recent news, Ben actually spoke to Santa this year. He did a great job sitting on his lap and saying, "I would like a Devastator please." He's still shy enough that I had to explain to Santa what he nearly whispered. Ben has since changed his mind and wants to go back and tell Santa he wants, "Optimus Prime." I think I'll talk to grandma about that.
Grandma Eva will be coming for Christmas! We're so excited to have some one in the family for the holidays that I'm already planning hiking trips and baking. Tonight, though, I'm going to try and get Ota to concede to hockey. We've been loving this season so far and I thought checking out the local semi-pro team would be exciting. We'll see........
