Mothers on both sides with birthdays last week. As usual, we never sent out any cards or presents. This is not because I haven't bought cards, because I have. It just seems that I can never remember to get them out before it's too late. Also, just sending a card to the moms seems so impersonal. There has to be something more suitable. At least we didn't forget to call them. My mom was unavailable due to being on a cruise, but I called her as soon as I knew she was back.
This week I get to catalog Spanish fiction and non-fiction. It's interesting, because I found a new translation site: http://www.freetranslation.com/
It's very versatile and includes a unique character keyboard. I was able to determine whether some items really were fiction or not by entering in some of the summary. The tool has excellent logic, too. I was able to define whether I was using Mexican, South American or European Spanish.
In other cataloging, I'm almost half way through my first cart of children's DVDs. Local practice for call numbers is outside the norm, but logical for kids who identify with a series or main character. For example: Bob the builder:Yes we can! is cataloged CHILDRENS DVD BOB YES. Kids can find that much more easily than 791.433 YES. The later places Bob anywhere, instead of all together.
Well, enough about work. More about the kitten! Edna Mode and guest Klier (her full name) has grown very little, but has fit right in with our daily routine. She likes to sit on my shoulder when I'm walking around doing chores and purrs loudly all the while. Lilly still can't stand her, but tolerates sharing a bed when it's cold. Mouse nips at her and tries to play chase. Mouse is lucky Edna has no claws, thanks to some crazy adoptive flakers. She's so sweet I don't see how anyone could un-adopt her, but they did. We think it may be due to the fact that she neglects to cover her poop.... often... so the house is odoriferous.
Ugh.... Mouse has picked up an awful habit of whining at me while I do homework. I am tempted to keep her penned while reading, just for the peace and quiet. But, I can't stand penning her for such reasons. I feel guilty enough that she's in there sometimes all afternoon if I have errands to run after work.
Well, off to read more about Statistics and how to use them analytically and not derisively. :D
Ciao!
