Only five games left and the Avs lost another one tonight. We thought if we went to the game it would make a difference, but it didn't. Ben did get some sweet swag though. His first hockey jersey set us back a bit, but the zamboni and bargin blanket evened things out. We'll have pictures to pick up online in a few days as well. I didn't post the last one because there were other people in it. This one is just the three of us in the booth with the ice behind us. Nice free swag at the end of the game as well, because rink sponsors Xcel energy gave everyone magnetic picture frames. There were also a lot of great people with us in the box tonight. Carol, who was recently let go, joined us and it was great to see her so happy with her new job. Not really happy to see her leave Flatiron, though, but I hope Ota does a good job keeping in touch. Teri and Rick (Ota's boss) were there, too, which was great because now we have plans to catch some local hockey and arena football.
Arena football is really important to Windsor our here, by the way. We have a local team, the Ice, which is wicked awesome. They play some interesting teams, such as the "Omaha Beef." There's a short list of games though, and right now their on the road until the 18th. We plan on catching all the home games, rain or shine, from here on out!
Our local hockey team has a huge following as well. The Eagles are on facebook, so I've been following them the best I can vicariously through text messages. What is truly sad is the Budweiser Events Center is just a half mile from the house, but we NEVER seem to have the time to go to a stupid game. With hope, tonight's festivities will change that pattern as well.
On the down side, the beer, hot wings and nachos set me back a few points on the old diet. Tomorrow I hope to work that off during our visit with Jitka. She's so FULL of adventure, which I really do admire about her. Her long time friend is flying in from Texas and we're meeting them at the slopes. It'll be our second time to Loveland Ski area and it seems pretty nice. Ben is really into the whole skiing thing, but hits melt down point around same time his snot freezes to his face. He loves wearing the boots and helmet. This time I'll bring the video camera and get some footage of Daddy teaching him.
OH! And I cataloged a few interesting titles this week ,but I was so busy that I'll post them at some point this weekend.
Oops! Battery life is down... that's all for tonight. More tomorrow.
