Farewell my grandpa

On Thursday morning my grandfather, Mr. Warren Earl Keagy, passed away. He had been battling cancer for months and never lost his fighting spirit. The loss, though anticipated, still impacted the family on many emotional ways. My sister had cried so much I think she became dehydrated and sick. My cousin is here at the house in San Diego and is experiencing things with a great sense of finality. This house and all his belongings are in the process of being packed up or discarded.
Grandpa chose to have my aunt Diana oversee all the final accounting and arraignments, which was the best choice. She is his daughter. I'm here now to support his final wishes, provide support during the transition and funeral, and keep hope that dignity and due respect remains to be the tone for the week.
I am currently not as emotional as the rest. Probably due to the distance my family has put in with me. I'm not as bad as they all think or made me feel I was. Grandpa did love me, not as much as the rest, but enough as I needed. I am thankful that I got to see him one last time for the week of my birthday.

When I drafted this I did not know it wasn't published. I am publishing now in hopes that it is well received and marks my good memories during this sad time. Love you grandpa!
