Fifth of July

Today my inlaws left after four days of adventure here in Colorado. Ben is truly heartbroken because he really adores those kids. This visit was much better than last time. The kids are older an more responsible, so it was easier to send them outside to play. The house is on shambles, but not as much as I expected. There was a few times I let it get to me too much and cleaned up the living room in a huff. That is my fault though, because they don't expect me to be perfect, it is just my upbringing.

Ben was mostly well behaved except when he hit Kate.

Mostly, I really enjoyed having people to cook for beyond just everyday meals. Trifle for fourth of July was a hit. This morning I made terrific potato pancakes. We had hamburgers and mashed potatoes. We had grass fed rib eyed steak one night. I also made spinach and mushroom frittata for breakfast once. Ota also pitched in when I had to work on my school projects. We only ate out once, which was only the first night. It was a great holiday overall.

Right now I'm debating what I'll need to do to clean, or if I should just leave it for Holly to clean. Before Helena left she cleaned up everything in the bedrooms. She even washed the sheets and towels. That was nice, and not necessary, but appreciated.

Ben was so sad to see them leave he felt he needed to hold the cat. He carried Optimus around like a rag doll for a few minutes until the cat couldn't stand it. Opt was very cooperative for a long time.
